The typical process for each issue of The Ambassador is outlined below.

General workflow and duties of the Editor:
-----------------------------------------------------

•  Content for The Ambassador is usually supplied by various authors. The Editor may also work-up an article from submitted ideas, photos, drawings, or other submissions by persons who prefer not to write.

•  Editor gathers appropriate content and decides content for each issue.

•  Editor acknowledges via email, postal correspondence, or phone call, receipt of submissions by respective authors.

•  Editor provides content to the Layout Person.

•  Layout Person arranges the issue and submits back to Editor.

•  Editor reviews layout version.

•  Editor sends PDF copies to two Proofreaders.

•  Comments are then sent to Editor for incorporation into the current issue.

•  If corrections are necessary, Editor returns it to Layout Person for corrections. Hopefully only one iteration.

•  Final review copies are sent to the two Proofreaders for one last proofread.

•  After review by Editor, file is sent to the Printer for printing.

The Printing process:
----------------------------

•  Approximately two to three weeks prior to expected completion date for each issue of The Ambassador, Editor notifies CVRHS President that the issue is nearing completion.

•  When finished issue is one week out, CVRHS President requests from the Membership Secretary the current membership list including addresses.

•  Approximately 50 issues are added to that count to cover issues for Archives, Back Issues, and Membership.

•  The Printer is then notified of the total count and they order the necessary paper in advance so that it is available when the file arrives.

•  The Printer notifies the CVRHS President that the printing is done and on its way to the Mailing Center.

•  Mailing Center is notified when printing starts and given the mailing list and an updated bulk distribution list as needed. The mailing list is processed through NCOA (National Change of Address). They preprint sufficient envelopes on demand with addresses supplied.

•  Two to three days later the current issue is on its way to the Membership!

A satisfying job well done!
